hmm

I'm puzzled now. The optometrist is trying me on the PureVision Toric, even though they're 0.25 less than I need.

What I don't understand is why she's not trying the Acuvue Advance--which are also silicon hydrogel and go up to -8.00--and are available in my cylinder and axis prescriptions.

What's even weirder is that when she said she was trying me on new lenses I said "Oh, the new Acuvue ones?" and she said "no". So it sounds like she'd heard of them.

I'm tempted to ask about them, or at least find out if there's another reason they're not suitable, but part of me is worried about sounding like one of those pushy convinced-by-advertising patients.

(Then again, I'm asking the GP about DTaP after reading a NYTimes article saying that adults who need DT boosters should get a DTaP shot as it's more effective than the old pertussis vaccine. I really have no idea when the last time I had a DT booster was...)
