"The legal status of Irn-Bru in America is unclear. Several American companies import Irn-Bru, yet it is currently listed as a banned substance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA website[3] lists Irn-Bru and Diet Irn-Bru as containing the banned carcinogenic colouring Ponceau 4R, and Sunset Yellow FCF, which the FDA has to approve on a per-batch basis[4]. One importer, Great Scots International [5], modifies the drink to conform to FDA requirements."

I just booked tickets to visit my parents.... over the TELEPHONE! I had to do it that way because I'm using my grandmother's gazillion AmEx Rewards Miles, after being convinced that there is no way my grandmother is going to manage to use them (how the woman managed to accumulate 155,000 AmEx points at a 1 to 1 basis is not something I wish to contemplate: my grandmother is a firm believer in the power of The Card). In order to do that, you make a reservation, call AmEx, have the miles transferred, and then have them deducted from your FF account. AmEx include Virgin Atlantic. Yay!

We now have holds on two Premium Economy return tickets to New York, 24/02 - 04/03. I must also book a hire car. I've noticed the Hertz and Avis discount codes on the back of our Virgin cards, so I might re-check their rates--Hertz was stupidly expensive last time I looked.
