We've been invited up to Ipswich next weekend. Since we'd be leaving on a Friday, neil wanted to take the train.
I just searched thetrainline.com.
Friday was fine: direct trains, 1:10.
Sunday, all routes are over 2 hours and have a minimum of 1 change. Upon investigating, it seems that one are running rail replacement buses. I am NOT taking a bus from fucking Colchester. (Or a bus from Colchester to Shenfield, then another train.) And there was only 1 visible train that only had 1 change - so much for one railway's "There will be nonstop bus service from Colchester to London Liverpool Street".
They still want to charge £32 ("Business Advance") for the privilege, though.
