We've considered cancelling Sky Movies, which we don't watch very often (it's not remotely close to HBO/Showtime :( very slow to get new films, and not very good scheduling IMO) and possibly getting DVD-by-post instead.
So I just went to sky.com to check out the price difference.
Cost of full entertainment pack: £21
Cost plus 1 premium pack (movies or sports): £36
Cost plus 2 premium packs: £42.50
So we'd only save £6.50 a month. Sport is one of the big reasons we got Sky, and now that Neil has seen the wonders of Sky Sports he won't give it up easily, so that's staying. I'd rather have a subscription to Screenselect or something than Sky Movies (I don't like Amazon.co.uk's service, there's a per month limit) - that would actually work out to £3.50 more. Meh. I used to have Netflix; it was great. I saw all sorts of obscure stuff. Then again this might be a negative as far as Neil's concerned ;)
Oh, in case I didn't mention, Neil picked up a cheapo DVD player for the bedroom. It's multiregion too :) DVD in bed, baby! The PS2 has been returned to the living room. Neil also got a Freeview box, but it doesn't work very well, and he forgot to return it--might have to have a try at that tomorrow, see if at least Currys will accept it for store credit.
Yes, I'm very very bored and randomly doing things on the Internet.
