Went to [livejournal.com profile] theladiesloos meet in Chancery Lane. Good fun, mostly, though the amount of drama that place generates is unbelievable. People couldn't believe we managed with 3 mods on [livejournal.com profile] weirdjews (more members, but I think less traffic). Unfortunately, explaining my mod policy got people threatening to nom me as a new mod! oops! :)

I went a bit quiet at one point--not always good at sticking myself into a conversation when there are several going on. I've also officially decided that I am, in fact, a completely boring mainstream person ;)

In the US, the imprint page of books includes Library of Congress/Dewey Decimal classification information.

I assumed British books did too but today I noticed that they don't--they just say "A CIP catalogue record for this book is available from the British Library". What are people who want a really well catalogued home library supposed to do?! Tcha.

(Have contacted Dan on Mono to see if there's a site to convert ISBNs to LOC/DDS.)

Now to decide: Shall I be resolutely American and go LOC (a system that no one outside the US has adopted, apparently) or stick with Dewey Decimal, a system that still has "less serious" attached to it in my mind because American university libraries, etc use LOC? Oh the trauma.

Made my yorkshires exactly the same as usual. Nonstick tin, oil in the cups, got it hot, poured in the batter.

so why the hell did they stick??

(also they were a bit stodgy but I overfilled the cups, I think. But they still shouldn't have stuck.)
