Today I dragged Neil to the (almost) new Borders at Brent Cross Shopping Park (on the other side of the North Circular, towards Staples Corner). It's a bugger to get to. Not because Brent Cross is so hard to find--it isn't. It's because although you can see it from the North Circ, we'd not seen an obvious way to get there from it. On top of that, we came down the A41, and instead of turning onto the A406, Neil went over the flyover, which we discovered was wrong. We went back up the A41 and discovered you needed to take the Brent Cross exit and then follow the service road.
I've since discovered the DFS website has a nifty little map of the mess. (It's in the same retail park.)
Said retail park was absolutely mad. Borders itself wasn't particularly busy. Presumably everyone was flooding DFS and TK Maxx.
Afterwards, we did the shopping (driving down Golders Green Road on Sunday: Bad, bad and bad. It's crazy, and the CPZ is in operation, so don't even try parking.) We'd found the Freeview box, but not the remote, so we got a replacement one at Homebase. It works, but we can't get the program guide or anything. Still, at least we can watch a few extra channels in the bedroom, so we'll only have fights if we both want to watch Sky. :-) (We've got a communal install so we can't have Sky multiroom, even if we did want to give Rupert an extra £10 a month. Ripoff.) We also have to get some dongle for the PS2 so we can use a remote with it (it's doubling as a DVD player).
I enjoyed the new TV by spodding in bed while watching TV. The only way to be sadder would be if Neil had a laptop and we did it together. ;-)
