From today's Guardian TV review:

"30 Days made me very, very glad I don't live in America, where stupid ideas about religion really do impact on people's daily lives. Any nation in which Pastor Fred Phelps, the vile anti-homosexual campaigner ("God Hates Fags"), is allowed to run rampant is wobbling on the brink."

1) British limp secularism isn't much of an improvement.
2) Two words: Ian Paisley.
3) Phelps has about 20 followers and they're all related to him. (OK, a few more, but only because he has 13 children, 9 of whom live in the WBC "compound".)
4) Would you consider the US a better country if we breached the First Amendment and put tape over Rev. Phelps' mouth?

(Sorry, I just get so sick of this self-righteous, looking down on America(ns) bullshit.)

I'm starting to worry about it. Surely there must be only so many enormous tangles that can be combed out before your hair starts to get thinner?!

While we're on the subject, evil hard London water is killing my hair. It's always dry and frizzy :( I KNOW it's the water because after 2 weeks on Long Island (where the water is hard, but not so hard you get limescale on everything) my hair was noticeably better. What's annoying is that I ran out of the Biolage deep conditioner, which seemed to help, and I can't find any here. It's bad enough that salon brands are only sold in salons here and not the chemist's!

In totally unrelateed news, I heard the doorbell ring this morning but I was powerless to move. It was probably the postman (anyone else would have had to ring the buzzer from outside). So I won't get my boots till Monday now since you have to wait for the parcel to go back to the depot...

(Let's hope it comes to the Royal Mail depot around the corner and not the Parcelfarce one near the Finchley Lido!)

It was them this morning: they left a card in our mailbox.

Good news: They will attempt redelivery on Monday, so I don't have to go to the depot (though at least if I do, this package should be retrievable--last time it was some very large books which I couldn't have carried home.)

Bad news: I owe £17.93, presumably customs charges. £17.93, on a $110 pair of boots! Meh. Why did my sister put the real value on the slip?! ;)

(speaking of which, realised I forgot to take the tags off my sisters' presents, so if US Customs open them up, I'm screwed, I put £50 on the slip which is less than what they cost...)
Mood:: 'annoyed' annoyed
