Tonight I made a rather complicated Iranian rice dish. (It would've been less complicated if my local Iranian shop had had slivered almonds and pistachios in. Or if I HAD just gone back to Sainsbury's for the almonds at least--I discovered the reason you buy them pre-slivered. Not only is it more work, almonds are a bitch to do. Pistachios are easy to cut into slivers, but you have to get the skins off. Not difficult, but tedious.) It also had dried fruit, carrots, orange peel and sugar and all the bits had to be done separately and then layered up with the rice. Not really a weeknight dish, but I felt like trying it.
It was very nice, but I didn't get the crust off in one piece. Next time :-)
I took a couple of photos (inspired by
yanata) but I'm not sure it looks that impressive on the plate... Debating whether to upload.

http://pics.livejournal.com/arosoff/pic/00009tx1/g5 - not the greatest, I don't think you can see that there's saffron drizzled in. I could Photoshop it and adjust the colours but that would be sad :-)
