Neil had bridge (again--he mixed up his Friday games, long story) so I went to see Guy X at the cinema. Black comedy with a bit of mystery stuck in. Mostly worked. I did make a wrong assumption though: I assumed that the base in the film was based on Thule AFB, and it was actually based on Narsarsuaq, or at the very least a possibly apocryphal tale about the base hospital. Narsarsuaq closed in the '50s, so it's no wonder I didn't think of it! (The novel the book was based on was set in 1959, not 1979... and the identity mix-up was original to the film. I went and looked up the book on Amazon. :) ) Still, you could forgive me; the "top of the world" slogan would make one think of Thule! (in fact they use that phrase on their web site)

I think I may be crossing the line from "pedant" into "crackpot".

Today we shall go see Wallace & Gromit.

Apparently, Tesco now have Pepperidge Farm cookies... but only the chocolate chunk ones!

The ONE American cookie I really miss, and can't get here, is the Milano (they're the main photo). They're really light, crispy cookies sandwiched together with dark chocolate. Mmm. There's just no British equivalent. They come in packs of 15 for about $3 (I bought some last time I was in the States) and I can scoff them in minutes.

Which reminds me, I never have tried the Endless Chocolate ones (which have chocolate cookies and milk chocolate).
