Yesterday:

On 19th October 2005, Hadley Freeman refers to Long Island as "a New York suburb".

Long Island, excluding Brooklyn and Queens, is an area comprising 2 counties and 2.5 million people. The island is 120 miles, tip to tip. Referring to it as "a suburb" is roughly equivalent to referring to East Anglia as "a suburb of London".

For the record, Kellenberg Memorial High School is in Uniondale, which is a suburb of New York City.

Sincerely,
[etc.]

Today:
Dear Sirs:

I am writing for the second time in two days to correct your American geography. On 20 October 2005, Gary Younge refers to the "Long Island town of South Shore". There is no such place. The South Shore simply refers to that side of the island. Ms Parisi was from Mastic Beach.

Please, I implore you, buy an atlas and instruct your correspondents on its use.

Sincerely,
[Etc.]

Requiem for a Dream soundtrack now on iTunes!

You'd have to be an idiot to buy tracks individually on it. Because of iTunes flat pricing policy, they're $0.99 each... even though none is longer than 2 minutes, and there are 33 of them! If you buy the whole album it's $9.99.
