1) Spotting that Zadie Smith has an American character (living in America, speaking to another American) using "nervy" in the British sense of the word. (in the UK, it means "nervous"; in the US, it means you've got nerve/cheek/chutzpah.)

2) Spotting 3 comma splices in yesterday's front page article in the Independent. A brief grammar lesson: Two independent clauses may not be connected by a comma. You must: use a conjunction (to imply connection); use a full stop (to imply separation) or a semicolon.

I just rendered a bunch of chicken fat for my knaidlach and now I'm eating the grebenes (the crispy bits of fat, skin, and onion you get after straining the fat).

I'm gonna be so sick... feel those arteries clog!
