More catch-up in random order. :-)

Thursday, let's see. I got my nails done. Neil and my dad met us at the nail place. My mother threw a $20 at Neil and forced him to get his nails done. :-) He only had a basic $9 manicure though. I had a full set of tips with a French, a little too long, and got to relax in the massage chairs (Sharper Image stylee) while my nails dried. Excellent!

Neil and I went to Long Beach, had some lunch with my gran, and then had a walk on the beach. We went in the water, but not too far--there's no lifeguard and the currents at Lido are strong. My sisters and I were pulled out by a riptide at Long Beach (just west) when I was 13 or so and had to be pulled in by the lifeguards. I'd be wary even if it looked calm, but it didn't--rough surf, and with all the recent hurricanes, no way I'd chance it.

Went home via the mall--I went to MAC and got some more makeup. I was unsure about my base as it's visible along the jawline, but the NW15 (the next lightest, indeed absolute lightest shade) is really pale and would look stupid over my freckles. So I'll stick with the NW20 and just try to blend it better. Also got new blush, some new eye shadow for the wedding and got ANOTHER Spice lip pencil which I will try not to lose this time! That's my makeup allotment for the rest of the year gone. (I'm not a makeup whore and go for quality, rather than quantity. I like MAC, despite the attitude of some of their sales assistants, because it's good quality, not the most expensive [there's a lot worse, and I draw the line at paying $20 for a mascara] and the color palette is fantastic.)

Friday, er, I can't even remember now... ah, dress shop for final fitting. The dress was OK. Spaghetti straps are not the greatest on my shoulders, but I didn't want strapless (and I'm damned glad I stuck to my guns on it!) The seamstress did a great job. She gave me a waist and a bust ;) Did a few errands including a hip flask for Neil, then packed and checked into the hotel. We had a rehearsal dinner (how goyish! Jews don't do them as traditionally the bride and groom don't see each other the week before the wedding) then went back and went to bed.

Sunday we availed ourselves of the complimentary breakfast, dropped our stuff at my parents' and headed into the city. We parked near the MoMA (Sunday special, $22 including tax, woo!) and proceeded to be Cultured. The new MoMA is great, though it seems like the bits I remember (the painting collection from 1880-1970) is now all packed upstairs! The fifth floor alone is worth the $20 admission though, it's one of the best collections of Impressionist to modern art anywhere.

We relaxed at a Barnes & Noble for a bit, had a nice curry (Neil complained later that his vindaloo wasn't hot enough... you're not in Britain sweetie, vindaloo isn't kamikaze here :) ) and then back to my parents.

First, the Nature's Miracle.

I remembered that the best thing for animal pee is Nature's Miracle--it gets rid of the smell so they don't keep going back to the same spot. So I got some today.

When I got back I looked at it.

"Nature's Miracle - Just for Cats Formula!"

DOH!

Later, while searching for the dishwasher soap, I discover a bottle of Nature's Miracle under the sink. DOUBLE DOH!

Two, my sister didn't tell me her network password!! So I had to reset the router. Easy enough, Apple support... except all links to docs.info.apple.com were failing; IE couldn't connect. (I was on Rob's PC.) Jen didn't leave her laptop, as far as I can tell (no idea why she took it to Mexico...) So I had to try to find instructions on Google and the network kept going flaky. In the end I gave up and went on my errands. When I got back Neil had reset it. Jen now has an open network ;)
