As I mentioned before, there was a reason I sent Neil to the supermarket.
Namely, my night vision has gone to pot. I haven't driven at night since May, and when I did last week, it was awful. Contact lenses screw with your night vision in the best of cases but this was really bad. I always get big halos around streetlamps, but I was getting them all over.
Hopefully this is just an out of date contacts prescription and can be remedied with a visit to the opticians but it was a somewhat unpleasant surprise. It means Neil has to do all the night driving--there's no way I can do it when I get blinded by everything. I'm 99% sure it is contacts related; my night vision (seeing in the dark etc) is fine otherwise and halos are a known contact lens issue. The question is whether it's correctable. My vision isn't fully correctable because my right eye is slightly lazy. It tracks and everything, but it doesn't work as hard as it should, and so the optician can never do better than 20/25. My overall vision is better with contacts, but the halos are worse with them.
