Today I went back to Regent Street to change the adapter.
They didn't give me any trouble even though I was missing the receipt (but I had paid by credit card, so they could look it up).
Came back, hooked it up, aaand...
Lit up briefly, then turned off.
So it IS my laptop. My original instinct had been to blame the adapter--after all, my laptop had been behaving just fine with the old adapter, and it was only the day after I got the replacement that I developed a problem.
(I have tried using different wires, a different outlet, etc--there can't be another reason for the problem).
So now I have to go BACK to Apple tomorrow, which (as I've moaned before) means being there when it opens so I can actually be seen in the morning. (If you get there at opening time, you should be seen by 11--ProCare gits tend to have booked the first appointments in advance.) Just what I want to do, haul my laptop down there AGAIN. And yes, I've backed everything up.
I bet you Apple skeptics are laughing your heads off... but I didn't have a problem for the first year I owned this... I seem to have a run of bad luck now!!
