I finally made it back to Stanmore today. I left the flat at 7:35, got to the DVLA at 8:45 (not bad: didn't get the bus till just past 8:00).
The DVLA opens at 9:00. When I got there, a queue was already forming. I was 11th. :)
Got seen at 9:10, they signed my photo, checked all my details, and took my application, passport, and cheque. I should have my provisional licence in a couple of weeks.
