Dang it!

I got all excited because my weather widget said it was going to be 26 this weekend. I said this to Neil and he said "where is it getting its forecast from? It's going to be about 16." I went to the setup and it just said "London" - I put in "London, UK" and got a new, more depressing forecast. Hmph. The widget changed my location when I changed my timezone and city, and I assumed it got it right, but it picked some London in the US. Judging by the forecasts it seems to be London, WV! I don't know how it picked that.

My iPod gave me the MASH theme ("Suicide Is Painless") twice on the train yesterday. Is it trying to hint?!

I disagree with quite a few Labour policies, yet the Lib Dems have so failed to impress me that I've become surprisingly pro-Labour in this election. It's also bizarre that despite being upper-middle-class in background, and middle-class in income now, I hate the middle-class-sop policies that the Lib Dems have advocated. Perhaps it's because they're not marketing them honestly. If they admitted that free tuition and personal care would primarily benefit the better-off, then I'd be a little less antagonistic. I'm totally unsure about local income tax, though. The "poor pensioners who can't afford council tax" argument holds no water with me--if they can afford to keep up a large house they can afford to pay council tax on it--but it might be the middle classes who get hit. (Now, if they were just proposing to get rid of the ludicrous banding system the Tories put in that ensured that the rich never had to pay too much money, that would be different.)

Maybe it's my American Jewish Democrat background... as they say, we live like Episcopalians and vote like Puerto Ricans. :-)

As for Iraq and Blair's lying... yawn. He's a politician. Let the Lib Dems have a spell in government, then they can talk about honesty. Power corrupts, and virtue isn't virtue unless it slams up against vice (to quote Homicide).

talking on the bus

funnily enough, after _kent's comment the other day, I had a related experience today. I got on the bus yesterday at Golders Green station, and someone was doing that annoying hog-the-aisle seat thing, so I said "excuse me" and went past her. I don't know if she took that as an invitation but then she started talking about the weather and what was on TV last night. I didn't really want to talk so I just mm-hmmed but she didn't get the hint. Luckily she got off at Alyth Gardens ;)

Perhaps I am assimilating :-)

Jen got Bailey a Burberry collar! Well, fake Burberry; I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse.

She's the most spoilt dog i've ever seen too... loads of toys, new expensive dog bed, gets taken everywhere.
