I am a sad sad woman.

I went out and bought Tiger on the release date. What makes it extra sad is that they weren't releasing it till 18:00, so I made a special extra trip to the mall after dinner for it. I was a selfish cow about it too, since I went to my grandma's for dinner (though to be fair, I got there at 16:30 and left at 20:30 and she always goes to bed early... and I'm going round Sunday too).

To up the sad factor, I immediately went home and installed it. It's 2:30am, I should go to bed, and I keep saying "let's just finish one more thing".

The re-install has been fine, except for:

1) Apple's method for transferring my music onto a new computer didn't work; iTunes still thought the iPod was linked to another computer (perhaps I should've unlinked it before I reinstalled... too late though). I had to copy them via the shell (because the Finder hides the iTunes folder on the iPod), then import them. It was a little messy. Good thing they give you 5 computers to use purchased music, or I'd be screwed, because I just realized I also forgot to de-authorize it and I'm not sure if iTunes is smart enough to know it's the same computer, just with a new OS.

2) Using MSN crashes Fire. Now confirmed as a known bug and they're working on a fix.

I also bought The Sims (big multipack, now they give you 3 expansion packs). I know the Sims 2 is out, and in fact I have it, but heaven knows when it will be out for Mac and if the PC version is anything to go by, running it at any kind of decent speed will require a dual G5. Neil's PC is reasonably new and fast (he IS a gamer) but I've barely played Sims 2 because I got sick of how slow it was--it constantly hangs and you have to wait for it to catch up.

I was driving home today in the rain, and the roads were flooded.

So I stalled.

Good thing: I stalled around the corner from home.

Bad thing: I stalled in the left hand turn lane on Route 110. Oops.

After a few minutes of trying to get the engine to turn over (I've had this happen before, when I owned it--the car does not like going through large amounts of water) I called my parents and we pushed it around the corner to Costco, at which point my dad got it working and we drove it home.

I'm glad I didn't go into the city today even if I STILL haven't been to the new MoMA!

I need to buy shoes. Need, as in all my everyday shoes are trashed. Today I got wet feet... and I wasn't walking through a puddle at the time.

The trouble is that normally I try to have 2 pairs of black shoes--one for running around in and one decent (but still comfortable) pair. This may run in sequence: new good shoes purchased, good shoes become every day shoes, old shoes get dumped. However, since I've delayed buying new shoes for so long, I can't do this; none of my current pairs are fit for more than running to the garbage cans. So I have 2 choices:

1) Buy 2 pairs of shoes, one casual and one dressy. Expensive, and I've shopped enough this week! (but still haven't found new T-shirts, 3 branches of Macy's were mysteriously out of my size. Shame, they do very good ones for $20, nice heavyweight ones).

2) Buy one pair of dual-purpose shoes. I'm afraid I'll wear them out quickly and then when I need decent looking shoes, I won't have them!

So as a result I've been unable to decide on ANY shoes. The other problem is that I need to buy new off-white dress shoes as my current ones are about 8 years old and in very poor shape. I didn't see any ones I liked though (I do not want stilettoes, super-pointy toes or $250+ designer shoes).
