As you all know, I renewed my passport recently. When I did that, I looked on the IND website for information on putting my residence permit in my new passport. It said that FLR transfers were free but needed to be done at the PEO (ILR transfers cost money and are done by post).
So today I go to download the form so I can ring Croydon Monday and get an appointment... and what do I discover? It's now £160 by post and £500 in person. Another new charge from the money-grubbing Home Office. :-(
What kills me is that all the new charges came in on 1 April. So if the damn post office hadn't fucked up, I would've been able to get to Croydon before we went to France, and not paid a dime. :-(
(As it is, I'm just going to bring both passports through with me... didn't have any trouble at Calais and I can always use the excuse that I haven't had time to send it off!)
ETA: I have to fork over £335 (postal) or £500 (PEO) for my ILR next year anyway so I think I'll drag this out and not give them more money ;)
