Jewification of Neil progresses: today he ate cold kugel. He liked it. :)

As I've said, we're Jewish Family of Borg. :-) I told my mother about the kugel, she loved it.

(Don't worry: there's no chance of him doing a full conversion.)

I am truly incompetent.

A few hours ago, the light bulb in the living room blew. I fiddled with it, managed to get it out, and then tried to put the new one in. I couldn't. I figured it was because of the bayonet fitting (I've only ever put a bayonet bulb in once) and left it.

When Neil got up I asked him to do it. He went into the living room and came back a moment later, bulb in hand. It seems I managed to break something in the fitting. So now it will have to be replaced. Great, more money on an electrician.

I feel like a total idiot now. I can't even replace a light bulb.

The reason I didn't even contemplate DIY for the lightbulb was because I was under the impression that there's a new law that requires all electrical work to be done by qualified electricians. (There definitely is SOME new law on doing electrics; I read about it in the papers. I'm just not sure if it comes down to the level of not fixing your own light fittings. I'm used to the States, where no one will touch electrics because if work is done by anyone unlicensed, it invalidates your insurance policy.)
