When my doctor gave me my prescription before Christmas, I saw that he'd written in a refill. So I go into Boots today to order it... and am told by the confused pharmacist that this just means the surgery will issue a repeat prescription. ?!?! If I've got to go back to the surgery again why bother putting it on the script, surely they'd just need a note in the record that I didn't need another appointment?
(in the US, when they write refills on a prescription, it means the number of times the pharmacist can dispense it again without a new prescription from the doctor.)
So now I have to ring the surgery and arrange to pick up a new prescription. Meh.
