Went to the pub last night for [livejournal.com profile] erming's birthday. Good fun, though the pub is a tad out of the way ;) Met [livejournal.com profile] kesstrel's new girlfriend Nat--it was great to see Casee so happy!

Today, we got up and put some more stuff in storage, so our lounge is slightly decluttered again. Yay! Did the shopping, then headed into town. Neil had a bridge tournament, so I wandered round the V&A. I then went to his club to meet him, has he hadn't texted me by the time I got kicked out. It was fun finding the place--the street is easy to find, but there's no sign on the building! Luckily a quick text solved this :-)

Had dinner at Wagamama's, where we ran into [livejournal.com profile] skorpionuk... in a city of 7 million people, of course this happens :-)

Neil's playing bridge tomorrow as well, and I WAS going to see Vera Drake, but it's not playing till 20:45 which is a bit late (keeping in mind I'd be going in to central London, and hence would have to come back...)

I'm actually glad I didn't go to the cinema tonight, as I've relaxed and been domestic. I've baked a Victoria sponge, which will shortly be filled with homemade orange curd; changed the cat box; tidied the bathroom; and hoovered (except for my side of the bedroom :) )

I'm watching Tribe on BBC2 and just saw something really gross: they demonstrated how they used grubs to clean their ears. Of course, first the tribesmen played a joke on the guy by sticking the wrong grub down his ear. One with pincers. I'm pretty squeamish about grubs, worms, maggots, et cetera, so it was unpleasant. Much more unpleasant than the pig they just killed...

I'm slightly uneasy about this series, though--is it really the best thing to come into isolated tribes and start filming them? This is their life, it's not some spectacle for our consumption.

We still have half a (homemade) Christmas cake in Tupperware. I'm considering an experiment to see how long it takes to actually go stale. Given the amount of alcohol in it I'm betting we can have it at Easter....
