Today, I got there 3 minutes before it opened. D'oh! When they opened the doors, there were about 10 of us waiting. :-) No buttermilk, though. Annoying--Waitrose was out of it yesterday too. I know what it looks like now (this caused some confusion the first time I looked for it here. In the US, buttermilk comes in quart sized Tetrapaks. In the UK, it comes in half pint sized plastic pots, like the cream.) and that some supermarkets keep it by the milk and some by the cream. I work this out, and they don't do their part by having it! Pah!

Today I have to take my laptop in to the Apple Store on Regent Street as the charger is acting weird. Well, hopefully I will. Unless you have a ProCare agreement, you can only book appointments during that day's store hours. So at 10:00, I'll try to book. :-) I also have to sort out a cattery for Her Royal Highness Zoe.

I'm very proud of Neil. He cleared out the box of computer stuff, tidied the lounge, and hoovered! Meanwhile, I slept and didn't make dinner. oops. I woke up at 7:30 though, so my sleep cycle may be sorted for a few days!

Normally, I always run a little bit late. No matter how long I think something will take, it takes me that little bit longer. So today was a nice surprise. :-) I went online at 10 to schedule my "Genius Bar" (as Apple calls it) appointment, and found that basically you just add your name to the list and it estimates what time you'll be seen. It said 11:20. So, fine, put my name down and head in. I got to the Apple Store around 11, browsed a bit, headed upstairs. I was 5th on line (or so the screen said) but got called quite quickly. Bloke had a look at my laptop and charger, saw that the casing was loose, fixed it, and I was good to go. I then stopped at John Lewis and got a pie pan and a baking tray.

I stopped for a sandwich, then went to the butchers (tried going yesterday, the one in East Barnet was shut. Grr.) They only had frozen chicken thighs. (I asked if they had fresh, they said no. You'd think that if they have fresh breasts they'd also have fresh thighs, since your typical chicken has both, but it seems not.) This would be OK, except I realised later that it wasn't a package of 8 like I thought--it's 2 layers deep, or 16! (It did seem a bit heavy... d'oh.) This is a problem. I only need 8 for tomorrow's dinner (the recipe says 16 thighs to feed 6 people, so simplest just to halve it). Since they've already been frozen, I can't freeze them again. Hrm. Anyone think we'll be having chicken twice this week? Stopped at Finchley Central Tesco, got the damned buttermilk, then home. And all by 13:30!

Unfortunately, the charger isn't 100% fixed--I just let my battery run down a bit and tried it. Still lit up green instead of orange, and said it would take 31 minutes to charge (far too long). I'll have to go back later this week. :-(

I've also just had an unsatisfying orange. It wasn't too sour or too dry, just rather blah. I gave up after 2 segments.
