I've lost over a stone since coming to England. I'm finally starting to believe I'm losing weight. Yesterday I put on a skirt I hadn't worn in ages, and I could pull it off without unbuttoning it! (Wool crepe, no elastic in the waistband.) It is a size bigger than my (now-old) usual (I can't remember now why I have one skirt that's bigger, in a brand I bought a lot), but even so, that means my regulars are too big too, like I was starting to think they were.
I'm not on a diet. Not exactly. My diet consists of the following elements:
1) I used to live in a house where there was always something to eat. Now I don't. We never have leftovers in the fridge, for example.
2) I live in a flat with a tiny kitchen and no dishwasher. This reduces the temptation to whip things up.
3) I lived in New York for 27 years. This meant I knew where to buy everything edible, both healthy and not. Here I don't, and not all English things are to my taste (bakery things in particular).
