I went to the cinema this evening. When I got to Woodside Park station I discovered the Northern Line was fucked--trains via Bank only. OK, change at Kings Cross, get to Piccadilly Circus, all is fine. At Kings Cross, I spot a sign saying that service had been restored on the Northern Line, with delays, time 19:15 (well after I had left). So on the way back I went to Leicester Square. While walking through Leicester Square, I was accosted by a somewhat-drunk idiot who wouldn't leave me alone till I yelled at him and threatened to find a policeman.

Upon arrival (22:50) at Leicester Square station, I discovered that the sign in Kings Cross was a lie. Charing X trains were still all going to Edgware. The Northern Line platform was jammed, and I thought, why go through the crush at Camden when I can get a Piccadilly train and change at Kings Cross again? This worked out fine, until just after Highgate, when the driver announced that the train was terminating at Finchley Central. Arrived at Finchley Central (22:42), next train 9 minutes. Wait. 8 minutes later, board changes to "terminating here". Wait again. 10 minutes, a train arrives with the destination "Finchley Central". I give up, phone Neil, and demand a rescue (why wait for a bus on Ballards Lane at midnight, alone, when your spouse is a 7 minute drive away and you know he's awake because you've been texting?) He arrives at 00:15.

I am then told that the previous application of Mr Muscle has failed, and hence more is procured at Colney Hatch Tesco. If THIS fails I'll have to attempt to find a plumber. :-/

Arrived home at 00:45, by the way. Nice trip home.

I Heart Huckabees was very good, but my enjoyment of it has been overshadowed by the horrors of the Northern Line.

The experts have been called in. They will charge me £45 just for the privilege of showing up, but will do so this afternoon. Unfortunately he couldn't give me an exact time so I'm stuck at home and there's nothing to bloody eat!! (Lack energy for immediate trip to Sainsburys.)

1) Waited all day for plumber. He just rang, he'll be here in an hour.

2) For some reason I thought Chanukah started tomorrow night, not tonight. I still don't have a menorah :( or stuff for latkes though I couldn't cook them tonight anyway!!!

The plumbing situation means that I can't cook dinner, and going out's a bit impractical too given the timing, so instead of Wienerschnitzel and risotto, it'll be Domino's for us. Meh.

Pipe is entirely clogged, past the elbow, and it's gone hard--looks calcified. Needs a full cleaning and other stuff done to it. It will cost us about £275, and won't be done till tomorrow. No clean dishes or shirts for us tonight :-(
