I particularly love the way people are twisting themselves to justify his comments! If you take it out of context and pretend it's just a comment on modern schooling, you can pass it off as just being a bit cranky and old fashioned. Whether or not schools DO encourage people to think they can do anything is a matter for debate. But the fact is, it was written as a reply to a woman suggesting that university graduate PAs be allowed to train to become private secretaries! In that context, it is about keeping people "in their place". All very lovely when your unearned place is as a future head of state.

Please, someone force him to abdicate, or I may have to become a republican. (I'm a lukewarm monarchist. It is politically outdated and expensive. On the other hand, it's great for British tourism. Americans may have overthrown the monarchy, but they like to come watch it.)

On the one hand, the site's pretty cool, letting you get a timetable for any route from any bus stop.

On the other, why the heck does it have to be in PDF?!

I was curious who else had "charing cross road" as an interest (I have it because I'm obsessed with bookshops), so I clicked on it. And I discovered [livejournal.com profile] centrepoint.

(And some interesting info on the building itself: http://www.urban75.org/london/centrepoint.html)

(Lovely image, isn't it? Blame Stephen King for the phrase.)

The weather sucks. Thanks to all the rain, I slipped down the stairs in Tottenham Court Road station. I twisted my left ankle and gave my right shoulder a good bang. However, once again, credit goes to the many nice Londoners who helped me up and retrieved my packages. :-)

("Home" being convenient shortcut for "place where my mother, grandmother, and sisters live"...)

Flight sucked, inflight entertainment didn't work till about 4 hours into the flight. Plane was packed, we were delayed 40 minutes coming out of Heathrow, and they wait too long to post gate numbers.

I have a crashing headache and am off to bed.

Oh, and I'm a div. I went to get something out of the car earlier. Right after I got in, the buzzer rang--it was the taxi, 10 minutes early. I was so flustered I forgot to put the car keys back and didn't realize till I got to Heathrow. Luckily, Neil has spares.
