I've spent (part of) the past couple of days investigating them, and have found what looks like a good AEG model. (For what it's worth, I looked at Which? and their reliability survey put Miele first [far fewer responses], Bosch second and AEG third. We can't afford a Miele even if we wanted one, the Bosch models were lower spec and had confusing controls, so AEG it is.) The AEG and Bosch were side by side in John Lewis, so I can be confident about my preference. (John Lewis also had a very good price on it, better than what I saw online.)
My worry is that Murphy will come back to bite us in the ass. If we buy it, Murphy dictates that our next place will be able to accommodate a separate dryer. If we don't, or buy a cheap one (which I'm informed is a bad idea with washer-dryers) we'll end up in a flat where we can't, and we'll regret not having bought the good one in the first place.
I think that the second scenario is more likely than the first, and if we're willing to take a financial hit we could always replace it with separate units later. So I'm leaning pro.
If anyone has any experience with AEG let me know :)
