Much better day today, though I was still running round London (and had to take an 82 bus at the worst time of day, when the Finchley Road is clogged and loads of school kids are clogging up the bus). Bought the sponge tins I'd attempted to buy yesterday.
(In case anyone's actually connected my entries and is wondering why I had such trouble finding them, most of the sponge tins are only 1" deep. I wanted 1.5" deep ones, so I can use them for American recipes. What made it so awful is that they had them the first place I went to--but only in 8". I wanted 7", as it's more practical with only 2 people. Couldn't find them in 3 stores, even though I knew the company makes them. Ended up going to get the 8" ones.)
Bought some American goodies so I can make my mother's brisket (it relies on onion soup mix. Sounds horrible, tastes great) and headed back via Waitrose to get stuff for tonight's dinner. They only had 700g packages of braising steak, hmph.
Neil's already groaned at me. First I said "Remind me to video Panorama tomorrow" (we're going to the cinema). Him: "Why, what's it about?" Me: "Premature babies." Him: *groan* Then 5 minutes later: Me: "Oooh, Storyville on BBC4 tonight!" Him: *another groan* He's liked some of the documentaries I've put on but he never knows what to expect. :-)
