Phoned Croydon. They only take appointments 2 weeks in advance. (The appointment system in Croydon is new, so I had no idea how it worked.)
Phoned synagogue. They have to ring me back. It's not that complicated: do you have seats left in the ladies' gallery or don't you?! Though I think I heard her say something about overflow seating. G-d I hope not. Overflow is always bad. Overflow in an Orthodox synagogue is dire because they use a portable screen to make the ladies' section. Usually in the UK it's a gallery, which is not ideal but doable. Divider down the middle is usually better (or the raised-but-not-galleried ladies' seats on the sides, which I've seen in a few VERY modern synagogues in the US. It's religiously dubious because the men and women can see each other...)
Didn't go into town. Neil's phoning me tomorrow to ensure I get out of bed early ;-)
