I appear to be allergic to Britain.

OK, slight exaggeration. There does appear to be something in the air here to which I am allergic, however. I've had a runny nose almost constantly since arriving and can't leave the house without Kleenex in my handbag :-(

I made carbonnade tonight. Got it right this time too! (Beer used: Leffe Brune.) I am very full and slightly sleepy now. It's my fault: too many noodles (had to have some for the sauce, didn't I?) Don't want to do the dishes. :-(

Have dessert too: strawberries, cake, and creme patissiere (for a change from cream.) Today's interesting discovery: In Jewish bakeries in England, whisked sponge is called "plava". I had to ask to make sure what it was :)
