Didn't bother adding anything the past few days. This had nothing to do with Neil discovering he could play Civ 3 even without the CD, honest ;-)

Wednesday was also slow. It was my night on the cooking and I did lasagna--shame it didn't come out that great. Not enough tomato and too thick a layer of cheese filling. Oh well, no one starved :-) Also did tiramisu, which seemed to come out OK (I had a lick of the filling). I don't know how much got eaten though as everyone was too full after all the pasta for dessert. Some did get eaten the next day, though.

Thursday we went out. Neil got to do some fun driving on windy roads and we saw lots of sheep, some of them sleeping in the middle of the road. Very bad Indian takeaway for dinner: lots of grease and waaay too much food colouring. My fingers got stained. I know turmeric can stain, but this was more lurid.

Today we drove to Neil's parents and managed to avoid most of the traffic we heard about on Radio 2. The M5 was fairly slow going north but was OK southbound. I'm very glad we didn't head straight to London after I heard about the queues on the M4 and M25! His parents weren't in when we got here so we went for a drive (to the beach then through Paignton and Torquay, up past Newton Abbot and back via Totnes). When we got back Neil found a note telling us where to find the keys, doh!

I'm still getting used to UK style roads and route planning. I'm used to US city/suburb driving. It's not easy to explain the difference without going on for a stupid length of time but basically the difference between limited-access fast roads and local ones is more distinct, and there are more of the former in the States. There's definitely less of the standing around the map arguing about the best routes via obscure country roads ;-)
