IKEA was OK, not great, but probably significantly better than it would've been on a weekend. No ketchup or napkins in the cafe though. Or oven gloves in the cookshop, oddly enough. Did get a 6 drawer dresser though, which will be put together tonight. Getting it in the flat was fun (not). one of the problems with this block is that it's built on a slight hill. The ground floor at the back (facing the main road) is the first floor at the front. So where is the main entrance? The first floor. So even though there's a lift inside, you still have to carry things up a flight of stairs to the entrance. :-(
Today I was woken up by the usual noise of screaming children (from the nursery/primary school at the synagogue across the road--they seem to be very noisy when playing). I'll be glad when term is over. There are 2 schools at the end of the road, the synagogue's and an independent school. Said road dead-ends at the tube station. Result: Clogged road when parents come to pick up their kids. At least they don't all finish at the same time. The state primary school is on the next road.
Went to the Post Office to get stamps for the wedding invites. Slight problem when I discovered they didn't take Visa, only debit. Looked at cash--only 26 quid and I needed 28. Luckily the guy was nice and let me cut the queue after I went to get money from the cashpoint (conveniently, there was one in the post office). Was impressed that the whole invitation can be mailed for one first class stamp, 28p. Of course that doesn't mean they'll actually be delivered... ;-)
Upon returning from the Post Office and Waitrose, I did battle with the flat door. I lost and had to summon the caretaker.
