alexist at 12:14am on 06/07/2004Went to the Yankees game tonight. It was much better than the last game Neil saw--ended up 10-3 Yankees (they played the Tigers). Some good play, a couple of home runs (Sheffield and Williams), plenty of cheesiness--including free Lou Gehrig statuettes, sponsored by Hormel.
Before that we went to B&H Photo. Always fun, that--huge, jammed, and staffed almost entirely by Hasidic Jews (they're also closed on the Sabbath and Jewish holidays). They have an arcane system whereby you tell the salesperson what you want and have it rung up. Then you queue to pay. Then you queue again to get the stuff!
Neil drove home as I was a little tired, and I'm ashamed to say that I've turned into my mother! Normally, I'm fine as a passenger, but in this case I was totally familiar with all the roads and he wasn't at all--I kept biting my lip to stop myself saying "brake more going into this bend" and so on. Though I couldn't resist all the time :-)
