I'm finally packing my books. I went to U-Haul today and bought 15 small boxes (perfect for books). I weighed the first box full to make sure they'd be OK. 40 lbs--well below the M-bag limit of 65 (the plan is to put the boxes inside the M-bags, so the books don't get ruined in transit). So I should be OK.
I've got 8 boxes full now--up to the mass market paperbacks. I'm writing down the titles of the ones that are really too tattered to save, so I can throw them out and (eventually) replace them. Although I think I just packed The Andromeda Strain instead of binning it (it has no covers left). Unfortunately, the 2 big bookcases are only the start of it: I've got the stuff piled on the top of them, then the desk shelves. Plus clearing out the unit with my TV on it (2 1/2 years of The Economist shall be sent off for recycling *sob*). Pack up videotapes (which I won't be shipping) then get together the stuff I'm bringing with me on the plane. (haha, using part of Neil's baggage allowance!)
