if I invite a friend to stay over (for convenience, not anything sordid) am I required to relinquish my bed for him/her, or is it acceptable for them to sleep on the airbed?

I say that if the alternative were the floor or something else uncomfortable I should be polite. However, an airbed is an acceptable alternative and hence I don't. My mother thinks I am rude for not relinquishing my bed and staying with my gran (which I do not want to do because she wakes up at 5am). If I were the guest I wouldn't expect my host to give up his/her bed for me, after all!
