The Frasier finale was way better than (what I saw of) the Friends finale last week. Very funny, and a good ending--a little bit ambiguous.
( Skip this if you're watching ER on UK TV ;) )
Anyway, today I went, got a copy of my birth certificate, and mailed off my passport to have it corrected. Originally I was going to just renew it as it was issued in '96 but I felt cheap. As it is I'm paying $60 for expedited service, plus $27.30 for overnight delivery there and back (amendments aren't accepted in-person, they've got to be posted to South Carolina). If I'd gotten a new one I would have had to pay the passport fee, plus possibly an execution fee as I might have had to do it in-person instead of a renewal-by-mail. Plus the expedite fee, which guarantees that I'll get it in 2 weeks (normally it takes 6, and it can take longer if they're backed up). I was amused to see that the town hall charges $5 for passport photos, while the post office charges $15. :-) (I got the form at the town office--they do passports, right next to marriage licenses--but had to take it to the post office anyway because I needed to overnight it.)
Have to give Town Hall credit though: I went in, filled out my request for a birth certificate, waited 5 minutes, then paid my $10 and got the certificate, then and there.
