After about an hour of using my new keyboard, I decided I couldn't stand it, mainly because I kept hitting Caps Lock instead of A. So I decided to exchange it.
I left the house at 19:30 (the 2nd Simpsons repeat was
Homer Vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment; how could I miss that? :) ) I got to CompUSA at 19:55. It took HALF AN HOUR to get a fucking refund. Luckily, I got cash back (the box hadn't been sealed with tape, so they couldn't tell it had been opened ;) ) as they didn't have any other suitable keyboards. I'm not paying $40 for one when I kill them so often. I forget how many keyboards I've been through in the past 10 years, but it's a lot :-)
I went to OfficeMax to see what they had. All the low-priced ones in stock had half-sized backspace keys, which I can't stand.
By this point, it was 20:42. I knew I wouldn't make it to Staples in Freeport in time (it closes at 9). Then I remembered that there's one in Hempstead. Can I make it before closing? The answer is yes ;-) I got there at 20:56. I was impressed with myself; I have a habit of making wrong turns in Hempstead Village (usually, confusing Peninsula Boulevard and Henry Street).
Ran in, found a Logitech Access keyboard (I don't love Logitech keyboards, but I had one before and it will do). Paid, and went home. I can type upstairs again! ;-)
