Traditionally, the Christmas season doesn't start in the States until after Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November). However, stores have been steadily pushing it up every year. Now the supermarket's in on it. Sure, they have signs up telling people to order Thanksgiving turkeys in advance, but there are also stacks of panettone and a box of baccala by the fish counter. :-/

This is GROSS.

A few days ago, I was walking the dog and saw a dead squirrel at the edge of my neighbor's lawn (the ones who never cut their grass or rake the leaves). Since then I've been avoiding that side of the street (not least because my dog tried to sniff the corpse).

Today, I was walking the dog again and saw that they'd finally cleared the leaves, so I figured it was safe. No such luck. The disgusting, beginning to ROT corpse of the squirrel is STILL THERE!

If it's still there on Monday I'm calling the town!
