Wednesday

Slow day. I'm reinstalling linux on my PC. As always it didn't go perfectly the first time--a bunch of the RPMs were corrupted or missing. Since I'd wiped the original / to do this, I had to go find my old CDs (SuSE 6.1, ow! I've got 7.3 somewhere, but I couldn't find it), and do a minimal install so I could FTP the missing files. (SuSE 8 won't install from a Windows partition--has to be Linux. So I needed Linux to get back in. :/ ) Second time it all installed, then hung on the setup, screwing X totally. It's currently installing AGAIN as we speak... (I'm downstairs).

Hair

I have just had my hair washed, cut, blown, and flat-ironed. It took the best part of 2 hours!

Looks much better now though; I'm no longer in danger of having a white-girl Afro (even when I wash my hair out and it goes curly again).

Music

No Doubt's cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life". Why?!

Linux part deux

Installed and just about working, except for 2 weird things:

- I can only get X to run in 1280x1024@16bpp. This is odd because my card WILL do 24. I'm doing it in Windows and I used to do it on Linux. I remember that SaX used to detect it as 4MB instead of 8, but I could adjust that. No more. :( If I generate the file with xf86config (telling it I have 8192KB video RAM) X crashes. Very odd.

- Sound is not working. Yast detected the card accurately but I get no sound. Worked fine in 8.0.

Weird.

Testing ;-)

Trying LogJam on Linux... it syncs my LJ! Nifty :-)
