I went to Staples this morning. I wasn't expecting it to be busy. Boy, was I wrong. It was full of parents and kids buying school supplies. It seems that teachers have finally wised up and are sending supply lists home before school starts (at least the elementary teachers have, since their classes are set in June). Back when I was in school, you didn't find out what you needed till the first day. My mother gave up on trying to buy anything before school started--she sent us on the first day with a pen and a notebook. Some teachers were easy, but sometimes you'd get these complete obsessives, especially in junior high/high school. "You will have a 3-ring binder devoted entirely to this class, filled with college-ruled paper. It will have 5 tab dividers. All pages must have reinforcements. You will use blue or black ball point pen only. Erasable pens are forbidden. You will have a package of 12 colored pencils. Not 6, not 24. 12 exactly. You will not use white-out on your class notes or exams. You will have a ruler, a compass, and a hole-punch..." (I really had a teacher like this, too--and he graded our notebooks at the end of the year. He made us take notes by dictation and underline specified terms with a ruler.) Elementary school teachers tended to have strong views on binders versus notebooks (and the occasional devotee of the composition book) and every teacher had their own set of rules on arts & crafts supplies.

Did the Sunday Doze, vacuumed the house, made dinner for grandma and me when we found out Mom had only left Syracuse at 14:30, and got caught in a thunderstorm when I went to walk the dog. Hmph.

I was just looking at the ingredients on my bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, and saw "Urea". Ick. Ick, and ick!

(Side note: The bottle is 725mL. I'm always pleased when I see a metric bottle size.)
Mood:: 'nauseated' nauseated
