I've got to stop reading cookbooks; either they make me hungry or make me want to go bake. The current cookbook I'm reading (yes, I read cookbooks; I am terminally sad) is driving me nuts because too many of the recipes are too fussy and overdone. Sometimes it seems like chefs feel that the only way they can prove their worth is by being as original as possible. Originality certainly has its place, but so does simplicity. My real vitriol, though, is reserved for people who write restaurant menus with stupidly elaborate titles and descriptions.
My mother keeps telling me I should go into the food business. She's driving me nuts. Even if I had the inclination, I don't have the training and can't afford it. Plus, I hate the assumption that just because I like to cook, I'd enjoy doing it as a career. Maybe I would, but it might take the fun out of it. You never know.
hmm... still bored. I've had 2 cups of cocoa. Not sleepy, don't feel like watching TV/DVDs, nothing to do online, no books to read... hmm... any suggestions?!
