The repair service have finally received the part (Mom called Bosch directly to find out what happened--the service had called Texas and they were out of stock. The main Bosch office in California mailed it to them instead.)

our dishwasher will be fixed tomorrow. it's only been a month...

(BTW, Mom had the exact same reaction as me in the subject line :) )

Our new dryer is being delivered in a couple of hours, so I can do laundry again :-)

First, Sears proved Murphy right yet again. They had a 2 hour delivery window. Naturally, they showed up just as I'd finished beating the egg whites for a sponge cake and had started folding them in. (Luckily it didn't fall. Go me.)

Then they informed me that they couldn't disconnect the old one because it was hard wired and they're not licensed. Great. Next they put me on the phone with someone from Sears. He says that delivery and installation are often done separately, and that the installers can unwire the old one. I'm not sure how we've set it up, so he gives me the number for the Sears in Valley Stream, where we ordered it. I phone them, am transferred several times (once to Refrigerators), put on hold for four minutes, and finally get someone very nice and helpful. Once she hears "hard wired", she says "you'll need to get a licensed electrician". Me: "yes, I thought that, but then they put me on the phone with someone and they said the installers can do that". Her: "No, our installers can't do electrical wiring, they can only deal with gas lines" (our dryer is electric). It's so good to know that Sears knows what it's doing...

So I still can't do laundry!

today I baked 2 loaves of bread. I had to throw out the first lot due to my own stupidity. I put it in the pans and put it in for the 2nd rise. I turned the oven on so it would warm up a little (the a/c in the kitchen leaves it a little cool for rising bread). Then I forgot to turn it off, so it started baking. Duh. Figured out my yeast problem though (it hadn't risen quite as well as usual again). I was near the end of the pack of yeast (I buy in 125g bricks) so I suddenly realized that maybe it had lost some of its potency even though I store it in a little sealed bag in the freezer. I used the new yeast for the 2nd batch and it was perfect. problem solved.

Also baked 2 sponge cake layers and filled them with strawberry whipped cream. yum :-)
