Our dishwasher has been broken since May 24. The repairman first came on May 30. The part was supposed to arrive from Bosch June 4. It is now June 10, and the repair place hasn't gotten the part yet, much less come to the house to fix it.

If it's not fixed in 2 days I'm phoning Bosch directly. This is about the 4th time we've had to have it fixed as it is.

Cooked today. Did 2 loaves of bread (half of the 2nd will be used for gazpacho). I'm trying to figure out why they didn't come out as high as usual. I used different yeast--maybe it needed a longer rising time than usual. I also think I deflated them a little too much when I slashed the tops before putting them in. The texture inside doesn't seem particularly dense, though. Strange.

Also made a big pot of sauce (the Alexis method: sauté a bunch of onion and garlic. Dump out 4kg of canned peeled plum tomatoes into a bowl and use your hands to crush them. Add to the pot. Season it to hell. Lower the heat and let it simmer while you go take a nap. Put about half of it through a food mill before using.) I then used some to make eggplant parmigiana. Yummy, though there were too many dishes to wash!

Annoyed at Netflix again. I mailed Talk to Her back on Thursday and The Rules of Attraction and Adaptation yesterday. Adaptation was an accident. I accidentally picked up one of the opened "waiting to watch" envelopes and not the sealed "ready to go back" one and didn't realize the mistake until I went to watch Adaptation last night.

Today I got an e-mail saying they've received RoA. No sign of the others.

I've already reported a copy of Adaptation lost once--don't want another lost copy. Although if it slipped out of the envelope, maybe someone will be nice enough to post it back. Though if they do, it will go to San Jose (the address on the sleeve), not Flushing (address on the envelope), so won't get there till the end of the week. :/ (It's the sleeve that's used to scan it in, not the envelope, so it'll still be credited to me.)

And I can't imagine what's happened to Talk to Her. I remember sticking it in the mailbox on the corner right before the 4pm pickup.

Don't get me wrong, I'm mostly happy with Netflix--they do make some allowances for lost DVDs, knowing that the post office is never 100% perfect. I've just had a bad experience the past couple of weeks :-( I don't want to have to report any more DVDs lost; eyebrows do get raised if it seems like you're abusing the system.
