I had a good night's sleep, but still feel like my body's been put through the wars. How do I do that?

I was woken up at 8:00 by the cat. I was most displeased. My dream had just segued from sci-fi into an alternate reality where I was attractive, sexy, and had met someone great. Then the cat decided to sit on me.

Today, I will clean up my room and halt the tide of junk. Honest.

I decided to clean first, in the hope that this would reveal more space. This was a good plan. My TV/DVD/VCR are on top of a small cabinet with a drawer. After I cleaned out the cabinet, I had room to store all my magazines. I'd had some in there (the ones I saved when we moved--I bundled up my ~3 years worth of The Economist, but kept the special issues). I'm such a pack rat. I have a bunch of old course packs (the Xerox packs of class readings) in there. I know I won't need them again, yet I'm unable to throw them out. I've also got loads of videotapes in there, most of which I will never watch again. A sensible person would throw them out. I won't. Eventually, I will. But it'll take extreme pressure. I throw things out when I'm totally out of space to keep them. Then, just enough of the oldest/most useless stuff goes. I have a fairly small room now, so the pressure's fairly acute. The room I had from 2 to 21 was nice and big and I had lots of shelves and drawers. It allowed me to indulge myself shamelessly. :-)

I then tackled and reorganized the bookshelves, and dusted everything. I've just got to do the shelves on my desk, which I use as a kind of overflow zone, mainly for reference books I tend to need when I'm sitting there. Then I have to fold and iron the enormous basket of laundry next to my bed, and vacuum the carpet.
